The Manifest Artist Residency program was developed to allow artists to focus on their personal, self-directed studio production with the goal of exhibition, while the Scholar in Residence program was developed to offer earlier-career artists low-pressure opportunities to further research areas of creative interests, including both studio production, refinement of media skills and art fundamentals, and possibly teaching, as well as to provide a vibrant supporting peer culture. Alternatively, the SIR also offers the chance of a year of exploratory teaching for career educators. Both residencies will benefit Manifest’s community by providing the public exposure to the often unseen working space and practices of artists, serving to eliminate some boundaries to contemporary artmaking which currently may divide the everyday public from the fine visual arts.

Eligibility:
- Any adult visual artist can submit an application.
- Both residencies are open to artists of all levels. They are particularly beneficial to those just graduated from a college program or those just starting their careers, but previous Resident Artists have included recent graduates, mid-career professors on sabattical, and veteran professionals, among others.
- Open to artists working in any traditional and non-traditional genre and media suitable for our studio spaces.
Submission Guidelines: Apply online. Applicants may apply for the MAR, the SIR, or both using the same application form.
- Manifest accepts only digital images/files for consideration.
- All entry files (regardless of type or media) must be named LAST NAME_FIRST NAME_ENTRY NUMBER (for example: Jones_Mike_1.jpg). Detail, installation, or alternate view images must include the word ‘detail’ in the filename (for example:Jones_Mike_1detail1.jpg). If you do NOT include the term DETAIL as part of the filename for any additional, extra, installation, or closeup images supporting your entry these will be counted as additional separate entries and the system will expect a corresponding fee for them.
- Image files should be in HIGH QUALITY JPEG format, images should be no smaller than 1,000 pixels in any direction and be 72 DPI.

- 12 images of sample work be sent for consideration
Fee paid by check (mail) payable to Manifest, or via PayPal using the payment button provided after form submission.
Digital images formatted as directed, loaded to the project Dropbox, or linked for video/interactive work referenced on the entry form.
