Artist Bio Biography of Gloria C. Arteaga-Hinton I grew up in Cali, Colombia, and have lived in Lexington, Kentucky, for 27 years. Teaching art is a passion of mine—children’s energy fuels my creativity, which bursts with color, texture, and imagination, reflecting my Latino heritage. Nature is essential to my life, and I’m especially drawn to horses, symbolizing freedom, elegance, and strength. My style merges realism and surrealism, influenced by artists like Picasso, Dalí, Mamani Mamani, and Miró. I typically use acrylic on canvas, often blending in recycled materials or watercolors to convey my deepest feelings. My education in Animal Sciences heightened my appreciation for the natural world, and my work with horses shapes my artistic perspective. I love painting alone, immersing myself in instrumental music and letting my emotions guide each brushstroke. Creating art is how I express my innermost thoughts, and it brings me great joy to see others connect with my work. Each piece carries an uplifting message, shining brightly amid life’s challenges. I was honored to be a Top 15 artist in the “A Collection of Voices at Meijer” art competition (Hispanic Heritage 2022) and a 2022 Kentucky Crafted Artist.
